# Are there different records of processing activities?

Yes, there are two types of processing activities:

1. The record of processing activities as a controller

All processing activities carried out by the relevant company as a controller are documented in this record. This means that the recorded processing activities are (also) processed in the company's own interest.

     2. The record of processing activities as processor

All processing activities carried out by the relevant company as a processor are documented in this record. This means that the processing activities are processed exclusively in the interest and on the instructions of another company (the controller). If different processing activities are carried out in the interests of different third-party companies, several lists of processing activities as processors may be necessary.
