# What is a processing activity?

A processing activity is an operation or a process in the company in which personal data is (co-)processed. The term "processing" includes many different activities such as creating, collecting, organizing, arranging or storing personal data.

The so-called data lifecycle can be used as a guide to delimiting or identifying a processing activity:

E.g.:

- The creation, management, maintenance and deletion of a personnel file
- The creation, maintenance and use of a prospect file (CRM) in order to be able to carry out sales activities
- The setup and organization of the entire financial accounting (outgoing invoices, incoming invoices, etc.)
